Dropdown SSRS Parameters adding values

I have a parameter that receives its value from a dataset. I want to add an additional selectable value. So my dataset returns one value. I want to add an additional item to the parameter. How can I do this? I'm working with SSRS 2008.

Thanks

I would alter your query that populates the dataset to include the extra value.

e.g.

SELECT paramCaption, ParamValue
FROM YourTableofValues
UNION
SELECT
'YourNewCaption,' YourNewValue'

Another option would be to click on Report at top of page, select Report Parameters.

On the ensuing screen, click Add to add another parameter, determine the data type and use that.

sammy - doesn't that add another parameter, rathre than another value to an existing parameter list, which is what Nick was asking?

Yes, you are right Tim. I mis-read it.

So how would you filter then. I filter down my dataset by a value from another parameter. So basically my dataset returns 6 values for that dropdown. I filter it down based on who is logged in. Then I want to add another value, because everyone should have that value. If I do a union, it will still filter down won't it?

Could you post the query you're using to generate your drop down entries?
If the UNION added to the query is not qualified with a WHERE or similar then it should get added to everyone's list (if that's what you want).

My select is pretty simply
SELECT        Scorecard
FROM            tblScorecardFiltet

Nothing seems to be working right. This is what I am trying to do. I fill a parameter called option with a value from a dataset. I then want to use that parameter value to filter my dropdown list, and then add an additoonal value. When I try to apply a filter to my scorecard dataset I keep getting an error about Report Parameters has a DefaultValue or ValidValue that depends on the report parameter. Forward dependancies are not valid. So can I use the value from a dataset to either filter another dataset column and filter another dataset. Or use the parameter to filter and then add a value. This shouldn't be this freaking complicated. Using regular ASP.Net, I could do this in 2 minutues.

Right now I am filling a parameter

I had no idea the Parameter could be in a specific order and that it matered. Problem solved. Thanks

Ok, wasn't clear until your last post that you had interdependent parameters. Glad you sorted it.
