WORD and moving Text boxes

I click on a text box and 'nudge' it downward

This usually works, but occasionally, the text box nudges up for some reason, and not down when I hit the down arrow

Why does this occur, and how do I fix it ?

In some versions of Word (earlier than later), the up and down arrows would do strange things if the cursor was not in the text being altered. That is, the cursor had been clicked somewhere else even the text was highlighted. I recall see that myself in early versions of Word.

Try clicking on the text box to activate and do not click anywhere else. Now see if the nudging operation makes more sense.

Thank you. I remember running across this when I used Word 2002. I was pleased to assist you with this.
