It is time for our annual recycling drive! Recycling means taking a product or material at the end of its useful life and making it into a usable raw material to make another product. We have been very successful with paper and plastic products. Last year, we recycled more items than our previous three years. Let's try to do it again this year. We will have a dinner for everyone involved with the recycle drive on Saturday night. We hope to see you all there!

According to an introductory paragraph on Wikipedia, the process of recycling can be defined in the following way: "Recycling is processing used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production. Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" waste hierarchy."
We will begin on Monday, Oct 17 at 8am. Receptacles labeled 'paper' and 'plastic' will placed in side-by-side pairs at strategic locations throughout the campus. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
