My request was specifically for a modem router. I know that there are other modem/routers on the market. Only James addressed my specific question. But, I'm also giving points to the others because the suggestion to get a separate modem and router may be the way I ultimately need to go to get what I want. I am interested in purchasing a dsl modem router with wireless N and gb ports built in. Also must have wpa-2. This is for home use. I prefer Linksys but was unable to find anything on their website that meets these requirements. I did find the WAG320N... but, it seemed like it may be an older model. I want something that will be reliable with fast speeds and secure.<br />

Need Advice on Purchasing Modem/Router

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Routers

The term broadband commonly refers to high-speed Internet access that is always on and faster than the traditional dial-up access. Broadband includes several high-speed transmission technologies such as digital subscriber line (DSL), cable, fiber optics, wireless (for which there is a separate topic), satellite and broadband over powerlines (BPL).

Broadband

Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and enterprise (business) installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations. Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented and administered using radio communication.
