I tried connecting with PPTP on the Linksys RV042 with Windows 7 Ultimate and I am getting the following error when trying to connect PPTP

Error 619: Connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed

I have verified the IP address is correct from whatismyip website. We are in two different subnet.  In the RV042, I have set the firewall to allow port 1723 from any ip to any ip.

How can I resolve this?

I even tried using QuickVPN and also no luck, i get an error stating "The remote gateway is not responding.  Do you want to wait" while it is in the verifying network

I just need to find a way to get the VPN connection working for 5 users.  they are all using windows 7.

To Setup RV042 with PPTP, you must perform the following:

1. Flash Router to Latest Firmware
2. Reset to Factory Defaults
3. Set your PPTP Passthrough to Enabled if it isnt already
4. Go to Port Forwarding and the PPTP Service is there, enable it and point it to the server and save.
5. Now you want to set up your LAN Settings, (SAVE and login with new LAN IP if needed)
6. Set up your WAN Connection and any other changes you may have to do.

The RV042 does not work if you forward the ports manually. The PPTP Service is already configured in the Router so there is no need.

Thanks.  the DSL modem was not connected configure correctly to allow the VPN router to communicate with the public ip address.  I needed to set up the external connection to use PPPOE instead of DHCP so the VPN Router have the public ipaddress and DNS info on WAN1

The public IP Address needs to be in the VPN router for the services to work.
