I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Activesync is a Protocol - not a service thus there is nothing specific to stop / start.

If you are having sync issues with Exchange 2003, please have a read of my article and check your settings are correct:

ok so this happened when the server ip was changed from 10.20.30.76 to 10.20.20.76. Been going thru the settings to make sure everything is set but I think I may have forgotten something since now my ipad & iphone users are getting "cannot get mail" the connection to the server failed.

What is the IP on your Default website set to?  All Unassigned, or a Specific IP Address?  It should be All Unassigned.

Is your SSL certificate configured with an IP Address on it?  If it is - you will need to create a new certificate.
