asked on

Where can I download esxi 4.1.0 build 260247?

We are having issues with one of our VMWARE hosts. I want to have a bootable DVD ready incase we need to reinstall the OS. I found a download that is specific for CISCO and I need to install on an IBM x series server. Am I downloading the wrong thing? Where can I find the proper download??

hmmmm I registered with my personal email address and it is telling me "Sorry, at the moment you are not authorized to download VMware ESXi 4.1 Installable. You have the following options"

Isn't ESXi free?? I am sure our company has a proper login, but I am not sure how to get to it on Sunday. Do you have any other suggestions on where I can download this on Sunday??

See here:
http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere/4_1; click on the history link for whatever build you need. You will need to log in with your VMware acct (with business email addy).

p.s. Yes, ESXi is free

Hi

You need to go VMware vSphere Hypervisor Download Center

http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere_hypervisor_esxi/5_0?lp=default

Then choose "Other versions of VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi):  4.0, 3.5" choose 4.0 then you can download. But if you are register to donwload this product, you need to.

In the right side of the page you will see "Register to download your Free Product".

After this you can.

Hope this can help.

Thanks but when I follow your link it just tells me "Sorry, at the moment you are not authorized to download VMware ESXi 4.1 Installable"

Maybe because I just registred a few minutes ago, I have not been approved yet??? If you click that download does it actually begin to download something??

Possibly. Try @BestWay's link...do you get the same msg?
Have you registered to download ESXi 4.1 with this account you are using EVER?

e.g. do you have a history of downloading ever?

that link I've sent is with an email account, which I have used to download the Free version, not our business account, which is used to download everthing at VMware.

But if you have never downloaded ESXi 4.1, you may only be allowed to download ESXi 5.0.

But can you actually proceed to the download, it's only after hitting the Download Button, you do not get the normal EULA.
@mahatma82: This is a breach of EE rules!

you guys are all wonderful..thanks...Jail, I hope that is not where you end up!! What I did was give myself access to the previous engineer's email, then reset his vmware password and he has download access. I see there are other ways to get there and I thank you all for you time...now I just have to figure out my HA issue on my other post....thanks again

Ok thanks for the tip and warning...when i saw EE rules I did a quick GOOGLE search and only found info about uploading porn, racist and illegal materials. This post certainly had nothing to do with any of those, but I will read your rules and make sure I understand...thanks

VMware, a software company founded in 1998, was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies. VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture. Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
