Create an Exchange 2003 e-mail distribution group

Greetings All,

For once I am not here to put out a fire ! No emergencies, no one demanding the impossible, just a simple task really. I know it's possible, but I've never done it before, so rather than poking around and wasting time I thought I'd just ask.

I want to create a few additional distribution groups to appear in the GAL We already have one main distribution group in the storage group, trouble is it contains every user within the company (some of whom aren't even living breathing people!), unfortunately some people have become overly accustomed to distributing pieces of mail to everyone in the company even though many of the people in the group neither need nor want the mail.

So that brings me to the question:

How do I create a distribution group (in Exchange 2003) that will appear in the GAL and contain only those users I select?

Hi, follow this article to create the distribution group:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821904

Then add members to the group, either right click the group and in it's properties use the members tab or select the desired members in ADUC right click and spect add to group.

Just make sure you do it from a computer that has both ADUC and the exchange management tools.  The easiest one to do this from is your exchange server.
