limited connectivity, local only access on Vista PC

I have a laptop with Vista that when I connect wirelessly or vie ethernet cable, I always get an unidentified network/local only access (can't get to internet).  I've search around for solutions and everything I tried has not worked so far (uncheck ipv6, etc)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does it get a 169.x.x.x or a real ip? If it's real, check your gateway ip and dns.

It gets a 192.168.1.15 ip address.

Can you ping 8.8.8.8?
Can you ping google.com?

vmaganCommented:
also try doing a ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. See if you can get a new ip address.

Is this at home?

Is this the only pc having this issue?

Please post the ipconfig results for the pc that is not working and for a working pc.

Thanks

TCP/IP stack is probably hosed. Uninstall TCP/IP and reinstall.

I'd also try rebuilding the winsock2 catalog:

from an elevated (Run as Administrator) command prompt type:

netsh winsock reset

Cannot ping 8.8.8.8 or google.com.

This is the only home laptop that has this issue and running Vista.
