Merge multiple Word 2010 documents

I have written my thesis using Word 2010 where each chapter is a separate document. I now want to merge them all into a single document. Please let me know what the best way to do this is.

Also, I want the first few pages to numbered using Roman numbers and the rest in the conventional manner.

    There is no direct way to merge multiple Word Documents. However you can achieve the same using a little bit of VBA Script.

    Having answered that, it is possible to use different numbering format by creating different sections in the word document.

    When defining Page Footer for a new section, make sure to delink from previous section by clicking on the option shown below:
