Goldsync Issues

After recently migrating a goldmine install from one server to another (thanks to all who assisted) we now have a problem with a remote user that previously used goldsync for his emails. At the moment he only uses goldmine when in the office (no vpn required) but his connection doesnt work as expected. Emails are sporadically synching. Ideally I dont want to have to install Goldsync on the server as I dont have the media or keys (long story) - anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers Si

GoldSync for Emails? please explain.

GoldMine can download emails from any POP3 server, if on the latest 8.52 or 9+ you can connect to exchange too using IMAP

However that said , you dont need the serial number to setup GoldSync (unless you are on dBase (D-00nn ) license and you cannot locate the G-00nn licenses

I can provide a download of the GM version you need but it must match your live version

Thanks for the speedy reply. Clients are running GM version 8.03.80716 - we had to use an extra NIC in the config to get emails to use a dummy pop connector. All the other clients on the network are fine, send and receive ok but the other user doesnt receive all emails straight away. Ill get back to you in moment - just waiting for the client to get back. Do you have an email address I can PM you on?

Cheers Si

If that other user syncs then they wont get emails until the sync completes each time, and it will only be internal emails?

This sounds like an odd setup

GoldSync is a part of the product, it allows you to setup a remote "undocked" user who syncronizes data to/from the server periodically.  It allows them to be unconnected from the network and basically be mobile.

They only need a connection to the server when sync is required.

However Email should still be setup as any other user.

Hi mate, email appears to be working but we have to recheck the account for the emails to sync, is there a way of automating this?

Ah,

You need to enable the Auto retrieval setting in the users settings area

Open the users settings , go to the Email area and look for the "Retrieve Mail every.."
 Settings1

Then in the accounts , edit the account and set "Auto Retrieve"

Cheers mate, found and checked the box, however if we right click on the online user mailbox and select get all or recheck account every email is re-downloaded and GM prompts as per the second screen shot.     Is this the norm? Also email is sorted oldest to newest - can this be changed so new ones are displayed at the top be default? get all / recheck attach email to contact

Sorting should be sticky, choose the date order, if it dont stay then its probably a bug (i dont use the GM Email client myself)

The linking popup will not happen if its automatically downloading (auto retrieve set), if you force it it will popup!
