opensource inventory and helpdesk

Dear Experts:
Iam looking for the inventory and helpdesk opensource software for my office (main office)for the setup of 100 desktops and 03 branch offices of 50 desktops in each branch planning to setup systems inventory and helpdesk in the main office on the VMs as we have ESXi host, and interested to use ubuntu server 10.4, in the past while planning all i had asked help of expert at that time expert had stated as per below:
"I reccomend you OCS-ng (Inventory). runs on Linux server, and have client that runs on windows (any).
Commbined with GLPI (HelpDesk), can save you day.
http://www.ocsinventory-ng.org/en/
http://www.glpi-project.org/spip.php?lang=en"
now how to start with is my doubt
1. As VM is available for the OCS-ng (Inventory).  will deploy as one VM
2.for helpdesk glpi-project.org # shoud this be installed on a seprate VM please suggest.
Please help how to plan and setup in most recommended practice.
Thanks in advance.
