windows 7 printer issue

I have a user, win 7, his lotus notes 8.5 would hang whenever he tried to print an e-mail. I noticed in playing around that when I try to open devices and printers that the device printer screen is blank and will not populate. the print spooler service says that its running. for some reason though he cannot see, add, or use any printers in any applications. there is an error in event viewer with an ID of 359 print service but it is very cryptic and windows KB does not have an article that pertains to it. the error says something to the effect of "cannot add printer to outside operating system image" (i am not at this users machine and I didnt write down the message, only the event ID hoping that was enough) the user was not trying to add a printer recently, only print a page. I am at a loss.

    My standard Spooler related issues posting.... I would start here....

    Remove all physical printers.

    Once the printer(s) is deleted, go to start>, and type CMD (Right Click, and "Run As Administrator"

    net stop spooler
    net start spooler

    Click Start, and type "Print Management">Print Servers>Local>Drivers>Rt Click a driver and select "Remove Driver Package", and remove them all.....

    Note: If this is Anything lower than Windows 7 Professional, use the below command instead of Print Management, as it is not included in lower versions.....

    Hit Winkey+R, and paste the following.....

    printui /s /t2

    It will bring up the classic Drivers tab, familiar with XP. You can remove Drivers from there, after the printers are gone....

    Then try and reinstall the network/local printers....

    Also, what does the following command result in? It tells us the Dependencies of the Spooler Service. Default value is below. If it shows other services, we will need to check on those as well.

    reg query "hklm\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler" /v dependonservice

    dependonservice     REG_MULTI_SZ    RPCSS\0\0

    Close all apps and then run this fixiit.

    Reboot and check.

    don't forget about the flaky lotus notes fix packs. Make sure you have the latest fix pack installed for notes.

    Is this a network printer or shared printer or printer directly attach on the machine? If its a network printer, or even a shared printer, does you can reach the printer by pinging? And printers driver should be installed or added on "printer and faxes". Then try do a test print first. If its work on printer test under properties of printer, then try on notes again. If its failed then, it something to do on notes application.

    it was a network pritner. I reimaged the machine and it is fine now. I have never been able to find out what caused this though
