Outlook 2010 Deployments "Operation Failed" when sending to outside email address

We are using the MSOCT to customize an MSP for our Office 2010 deployment. Under the Outlook-> Outlook profile, we specified to create a new profile and then add an Exchange 2010 account for the user. This works great, except once the user opens outlook, whenever they send to a non-company email address, they receive an error "Operation Failed." Our workaround has been to delete the profile and recreate it, but this is a huge pain. Any ideas on how to fix our installation package?

This seems to be an update related issue. Ensure that your Exchange and Outlook clients has got all the latest updates installed.

Ok, I am downloading the new package with SP1 included, may take a few hours before I can test. Anybody else have suggestions?
