Hi Experts.

I got a wierd error on our SAN system. Earlier today we got a disk error. I restarted the SAN and the disk started to rebuild.

Serveral hours later the server went down i got notified.

After further analyse i found out that one enclourse is missing from the file system(the mapped drives).

I went to the interface and the attached file has the error and screenshot defined.

The wierd thing is that all the lights on the particular enclourse is green which indicates no errors. The missing mapped drives on the encloures is the same as the disk that got into failure state .

Please assists and help me with this problem because it is very urgent.  error messages

ohhh, i've met this one twice this year
There was probably a power issue or something that made the MSA down.
Raid can not be verified. Each time I did 1 simple thing : I clicked on the raid array and clicked 'Enable Array' or 'Enable logical unit' something really obvious like this.

I had no other choice than trying that. This made the raid online immediately

I read a bit more about why this can happen, and i found this thread :

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Storage_Technology/Q_25087049.html

The option I was looking for is 'REENABLE' and it should work with no problem. But if a wizard pops up and asks to init drives, you'd better read this post 1st and see how the guy managed to get his data back cmdaly

Good luck !

Gerald: where is the "Enable Array" or "enable Logical Unit" because i dont see it on the webinterface.

Is on the Array itself?

Hello, sorry for the delay, was night time.

I have (hopefully) not any crashed MSA at the moment to look for the button, but it was a blue button on the right pane in logical view of an array. You have to highlight a specific logical drive to make it appear.

I cant remember more, since it was really quick and straightforward.

HP can guide you with this recovery process if the server is still under warranty.

Best luck to you

Hello,
I'm just a bit curious : Did you find the Reenable button ? Were was it exactly and what was its exact name ? (that can help future readers)
You're waiting for a new disk, so one of them was failed ? Finally is Array back online with no problem ?

Regards,
Gerald

Hi Gerald. I found the Reenable Button. It is named "Reenable Logical drive". I clicked on it and the error messages went away. I restartet the server and the SAN worked.

However it stated that a disk has failed and i ordered a new one and we are up and running.
