Verity Indexing problem

I am using Verity with CF9, and when I try to index a collection it suddenly stops after about half an hour with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".  There are approx 75000 files in the folder being indexed.  There is nothing in the log files to tell me what is happening.

I have tried through the Administrator, and also in code with the CFIndex tag as below

Any ideas?

try a lesser amount of files in your collection
you can create multiple collections and search on one or all of them

It's a bit of a mission to separate the files because more are being added all the time.  I temporarily moved half of them and successfully indexed the smaller collection, so I will have to do as you suggest and figure a way to manage the flow!.
