Got a question regarding Lync Federation.  Currently we have federation turned on so that its dynamic, so anyone can connect to us.  However, another company we do business with (big company has not turned on dynamic) and we can not simply ask them to allow us for federation.  I know the trick for live addresses not using the msn domains and it works (example: but how can i talk to those users using Lync if they dont federate me/cant federate me?  Am i really out of luck and have to continue using MSN to talk to them?

as long as you have a lync server, usually the big company can setup the federation with you if there is a business case. what they need to know is your spf details on how to connect to your edge server. thats simple.

if it is a msn domain then that will be tricky because they will need PIM licence to federate with msn domain.

i dont see a reason to reject your federation :)
