Exchange 2010 Outlook Anywhere

hello,

i am running exchange 2010 sp1 with all roles on 1 server.
we want to enable Outlook Anywhere.

i have a san certificate that host
-mail.company.nl ( webmail )
-autodiscover.domain.local
-serverA.domain.local.

if i enable Outlook Anywhere is this enough ? how will outlook clients retrieve there out of office and adress book. internally you need the autodiscover funtion for this. how is this done with Outlook Anywhere ??

do i need to make a record for autodiscover.company.nl and also register this namen in the san certificate ? or is this internally solved ?

If the SAN certificate is issued by a trusted sources like verisign. Just enabling outlook Anywhere will work. If its an internal CA, then you must add the internal root CA to the trusted root CA on each client.

Autodiscover for internal users inside the domain is supplied through SCP from active directory,so you do not need the autodiscover record for this to function.

If you want Autodiscover to function from outside, you must creat a autodiscover record on internet and point it to your CAS server with relevent SAN certificate (autodiscover.company.nl )on you CAS Server

You need to have Autodiscover.company.nl  A record created with ISP. Same name should be there in SAN
Or you can have autodiscover SRV record with ISP when you are using Single name certificate.

Functionality you will loose: OAB, freebusy and OOF will not work for outlook 2007 & onwards if you dont use autodiscover service for outlook anywhere users.
