I am trying to resolve an issue where I am unable to add new PCs to our domain. I initially came across the problem because newly created users were unable to login to the domain using their username and password. Error message swass something along the lines of "there is not DC to service your request".

I have removed the device from the domain. When try to add it again I get the error message "An AD DC for the domain "domain.local" could not be contacted"

DNS has successfully queried for the SRV record and found it. I have checked the DNS server for the A record and it seems to be OK.

When i run a dcdiag I get the "fails" listed below.

I can ping the server from the laptop using its name or ip address.

Any suggestions?

Make sure your local Active Directory DNS servers are the only ones listed when you do an ipconfig /all. If there are also external Name Servers listed there, remove them from your IP settings, or make sure you have removed them from your DHCP server. If you have external servers this is a common issue. Also, what OS's are you trying to join to the Domain?

netdiag /fix did not resolve the issue.

When you say clear the system log I presume you mean resolve nay relevant issue in it or do you mean delete all the entries.

There is only one DND server listed on the end device when I run a ipconfig /all

The issue is not the server at all. Its the 3rd part antivirus/firewall software that is blocking things.

Thanks for the help anyway guys
