MY backup exec12.5 does not send notifications

I have configured backup exec 12.5 to send alerts when backup jobs ends. The alerts/notifications work when I test the recipients and/or when a run a test job manually.

When the job runs on schedule, the alert/notificatons do not go out.

The backup exe 12.5 runs on windows 2003 std. 4 gb of ram.

No errrors on the event viewer.

I have deleted the backup jobs and recreated them, still the notifications do not go out

What seems to be the issue?

Hi, have you configured Alert Categories?
Tools -> Alert Categories and ensure you have send notifications to selected recipients selected for jobss completed with exceptions, job cancellations, job warning, job failed , job success etc.
Also when you configure the bakcup job, you need to select under Notifications, select the recipients that need to receive emails.

On the ocnfiguration of all backup jobs, the recipients are selected. I teste the alert categoires adn will get back with you.
Don't understand why though the tes backup job does shoot the notificaiton.

One more thing, I have never had to set alerts to send the email notification when the job cmpletes. Is that a new way of configuring the notifications?
The last time i did something like that they would get doubel emails.

No, it did not work. Assigning alerts to the recipeints did not send an email notificaiton.
Any other ideas?

I have included a link below from Symantec which lists steps to validate settings. It also mentions an issue related to test emails working, but notifications not received.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH47425

additionally, do you have any AV/firewall on the server monitoring port 25?

All those settings are in place. Still does nto work, Do you have ther reg key where they are turn on or off?

Have you checked your AV/firewall to ensure its not blocked etc?
I am not aware of any reg key, hence unfortunately cannot help with that :(

But another thing you can try is to delete all recipients and smtp settings and reconfigure. I would however focus on the AV side to ensure nothing is blocked etc. What AV are you using?
