asked on

recover files ?

Silly Question, but If a user "moves" files from a HD to an external source, vs deleteing them, is there a way to recoved them ?

Had a employee leave a clients office and files are missing. I ran 2 undelete programs and no sign of missing files, just thinking that maybe they moved them.

thanks

a move acts the same as a delete.

If your undelete software is not working the disk has been over written.

its weird, several files (100's) were deleted, the undelete program shows lots of other files from the past but none of the documents that disappeared.

would there have been a way that the former employee could have scrubbed just those files after moving them ?
Were the files all in folders that are gone? To be honest I haven't used undelete programs in a while, but in the old days if a folder was deleted the files would be unrecoverable, and in fact, as you describe, not even detected by the software.
files were according to client, on desktop and in folders

Hi Patrick.

Which "undelete" applications did you try?
