How do you keep desktop icons from disappearing?

I have a user whose desktop icons keep disappearing about every week or so.  She can even just go to lunch, log back in and they are gone.

I have already done this:
Had her check if the Show Desktop Icons was checked - it is checked
Had her turn off the System Weekly maintenance - it's turned off

do you have any other suggestions?  They are mainly her network shortcuts and IE shortcuts.

A quick fix:
I ran into the same problem on a users computer. I moved the shortcuts which were being deleted to C:\Users\Public\Desktop and this seemed to fix the problem.

Are you using desktop redirection? If so does this happen after the computers goes to sleep?

Have you ran any type of malware or antivirus just to make sure that it may not be the issue. Malwarebytes is a good one if you need one.
