Does Section 179 Deduction apply to equipment purchases for 2011?

I was planning to upgrade my telephone system equipment from Avaya IP Office to Barracuda in 2012. However, I became aware of Section 179 Deduction today and would like to know whether it would benefit me to upgrade my telephone equipment this year.

If the upgrade is done in 2012 however, there will be a limit of $200k coverage and this would depend on the company's profits. Not too straighforward I know, but it does give an idea...
