1. what is the use of office 2010 filterpacks in exchange 2010.
2. why is the need to register it.
3. when is the need to resigter it.

    1. What? Allows you to feed back infomation from Office attachments to the search engine, making documents searchable in Outlook.
    2. Why register? Do you mean install? Otherwise you won't get this functionality. The improvements in Exchange make this a small task for the server. In Exchange 2003 it created a much heavier workload.
    3. When? Install it when you install Exchange server.
