In DNS BIND, a zone was edited to update the IP for an A record. serial number was updated, The server continues to report the old IP. Zone was reloaded, server was rebooted.. Server is running Fedora. Resolv.conf points to loopback. Any ideas?

    Try flushing the zone cache

    rundc flush cache

If this doesnot work , then on the bind server, do nslookup and set server to localhost and query the A record, and see what it gives you.

    Accepted Solution

    - increase the serial number a second time and retry ( or better use YYYYMMDD01, ... e.g. 2011101201)
    - use "nslookup" or "dig" to query your nameserver and verify it still reports the wrong A record
    - query the SOA record to verify the increased serial number
