Turn on computer with cell phone?

A friend is a quadriplegic, and cannot turn on her computer by herself. I am wondering if there is a way to use the mobo's wlan and a cell phone to turn the computer on.

Wake on Lan, maybe - but not from being completely off. If it has no power you have to jump the connection to the board to power it up - whether that be by the power button or a screw driver.

That is what I was afraid of. I guess that she will have to put her power strip somewhere that she can reach it and shut down everything. She was hoping to avoid that as the printer goes through a fair amount of ink every time it powers up. Maybe she can plug the printer in to its own plug.

The simplest method might be to connect a couple of wires with a switch at the other end end across the PC's power switch and taping the wires along the cable to the keyboard or whatever user interface your friend is using. The switch could even be incorporated into the keyboard. The voltages present across the power switch are low (5V). Even so, don't attempt this if you're not confident.
