Outlook 2011 for Mac Connection Problems

I'm having problems with Outlook 2011 on a Mac running Lion.
When I add the Exchange Account Outlook will start to download all my email and then stop, prompting me to enter my password again. The message is:
Ther server for account "firstname.lastname@example.org" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". Your username/password or secutiry settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"
I re-enter the password and it connects again and then fails again.
I have tried it with proxy settings on/off/automatic all with the same issue. The Mac connects to our wireless fine with a certificate.
We use Exchange 2010, Windows 2008 Server and everything works fantastically on our PCs!
I have seen a few references to this on the web but to no avail.
