Does anyone know how to get a Canon 1060P printer to work under Windows 7 Home Premium using USB?
Trying to get a Canon 1060P printer working under Windows 7 Home Premium. The drivers don't seem to want to load and it doesn't show up in the printer list.
It does not have a driver listed for Windows 7. http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/office/laser_facsimile/laser_class_1060p/laser_class_1060p?selectedName=DriversAndSoftware It does not appear to be a current product so updates are unlikely.
try windows update, or the vista driver (and install it in compatibility mode)

Had already tried the Vista driver in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode does not work yet again.
Windows update doesn't work either.
Have no problems running antigue Lexmark printers under Windows 7 using their ancient drivers.
Thinking that we might scrap W7 and retrofit XP.

you can always use a dual boot, or test it in VM ( xp mode) : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/
If you plugged the USB cable in before the printer driver was installed it may have been detected as an unknown device. Go into the device manager with the printer connected and see if there is an unknown device listed. If there is you should delete it. Then remove the USB cable and re-insert it. With a driver installed now it should show up as a printer instead of an unknown device.

Did some testing under W7 Professional. The driver install will not continue unless the printer is attached. However, the driver didn't refuse to install as it does under Home Premium.
Will take my laptop with W7 Professional installed to the site and test it with the printer later this week.
ok, post results
