Hi I am sure I was told sometime ago that when creating a website on the pc, it would be preferable to set the pc resolution to 800x600.  As that way those with different size monitors would be able to see the whole website rather than scrolling up and down for eg. Is this true?

My laptop is installed with Win 7 and using a simple Webpage program called 'Webpage Maker'!!!

I did try it but as I am not able to upload my actual test website yet!  I did though however after changing settings on my VGA mess things up to the point where 1440x900 was not as small as expected so in the end had to run System restore to return back to settings.

Currently Im actually set to 1440x900 but do not wish to continue with my website until I know so I can change the 'Homepage' and use that as a template for all additional pages!!!!?

setting that size is a rather old piece of advice, but it depends on who your target users are, really.  I wouldn't aim a corporate site at anything less than 1024*768.

Modern designs using CSS are scalable anyway - not sure if Webpage Maker can make these?

hmmm... been creating some website before instead of resizing my resolution, I am more concern on my column sizes, image sizes and always put my page in between. standard size i have is always in 1024x768 or you can also have the 800x600.

reason behind is that whatever size resolution they have, my pages adapt to it.

oh.. CSS also can help if its more on template.

Hi, Not that I have had an issue with people telling me that they cannot see my website or have to scroll, but was just wondering for next time as working on a website now!!

Im currently using 1440x900 but what I will do is create website at 1024x768 and put back to 1440x900 when I wish.  I did mess this up before as had to run sytem restore as screen changed sizes but not to exact as per before so not sure what that was about!!

thanks for advice!
