search in joomla

Dear Expert:

I would like to know if it's possible to make a general search on a Joomla site. I mean, not just a search on Joomla articles, but a search on content to any internal link this site has.

Also, is it possible to assign a weight to any page so the more weightly page appear before on the result search ?

From what I gather the search components/plugins dig into the database and search the database for the string you are looking for...so I'm not sure about the weight portion of it as that wouldn't help unless you were searching for lets say the word "test" and you have a paragraph that had 10 "test" words in it...that would probably pull up first.

To make sure you are including as much of the site as possible in your search, head on over to the search plugins in the plug-in manager. (This depicts J1.5)

First make sure they are all enabled and then change the properties to match what you need.

I think I didn't get you. Which extension are you referring to ?

Also what I mean about weight is, for example, to do some more importance on the news than on the forum posts. For example you can do these weights:

10: Static pages
8: News
7: blog
5: Forum posts
3: Comments on forum posts

Also it would be grate if some extra weight could be assigned for newest content against older one.
