why cannot backup sql server on the desktop or c drive

Hi guys

just a simple question?
i was trying to backup my database and if i changed the default location it did not allowed me to back up.

any specific reason?

just want to learn why.

    this is due to sql service accounts not having necessary rights on this new location.

    this is the new feature of SQL Server 2008. it  is a security related advantage, other then sql server and admin user, no other can access the default path of the SQL Server.

    you can change the default folldet by right click on the SQL server properties ->facelts. just check the screenshot

    change the backup directory to your desired location
