Gigabyte board & processor problem

Hi Experts,
I have a gigabyte mainboard (GA M61PME-S2) that is working fine with an AMD Athlon X2 processor.  I've just added an AMD Athlon II X4 640 and it won't beep on the POST.  I put the old X2 processor in and it beeps and boots fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

HNM

That cpu is on the supported list: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2755#

When changing cpus, I recommend that you reset the CMOS, so that you are not driving the cpu with the wrong settings, as peter197911 commented.
