Hello Experts,

We just created a new web server (Windows Server 2003 & IIS6) and I'm using Visual Studio 2005 to try to publish a website.  It's builds, but fails to publish.  The error message is:

Unable to add 'filename.asxp' to the web.  Unable to add 'filename.aspx'.  Access is denied.

I've added the ASPNET account & the Network Service to the web folder but no dice.

    Accepted Solution

This got me for a long time...Go to Project - Properties and select the Package/Publish Web tab. Under the header "Web Deployment Package Settings", there's a ellipsis button that you can use to map to the location you want to publish. You will be asked for your credentials during that process
