I am working on a Windows 7 machine that halts on logoff restart or shutdown.<br />
I found a ms hotfix but when I tried to install it I got the message this is not compatible with your machine.<br />
The Windows 7 machine has Service Pack 1 installed<br />
The machine orginally had all the icons on the desktop showing exclamation points. I removed Mcafee and that fixed the problem.<br />
I have since installed ESET Smart Security 5.<br />
This problem described above started some time after Mcafeee was removed but before ESET was installed.<br />
