2008 domain deleted computer account (exchange) EMERGENCY

Im in  doozy here.
helping a friend out...
i did not do this!... swear....

ok so the setup is this
2 domain controllers running windows 2008 standard (not r2)  domain functional level is 2008

exchange server 2007 running on 2008.  Computer name     MAIL
the computer account MAIL was deleted out of active directory users and computers
network admin... (not me)
added the computer name MAIL manually into active directory.
then used adsi editor
found the MAIL account and modified default naming context or something like that.

now the MAIL exchange server is not working...
i can't login into it except for the local administrator
im afraid to try to add it to the domain the right way.

so now i suspect there are 2 MAIL accounts buried in active directory somewhere.

is there an easy way to get this exchange server back on the domain?
can anybody point me to the easiest way to recover this computer account.
remember there have been 2 instances of MAIL now
the original one that was deleted... and the current one that was added.

nothing has been changed on the exchange server...
i can only login as local administrator
