this service is set to manual , how can i tell what started it ?

Does your Event Log viewer search give results on Virtual Drive service starts?

no nothing there about the cause of a service starting , what i am thinking i want to find out is if a service is set to manual and then is starts is there a way to see what process started it ?

Normally if the service starts then in Event log the record about the start is written. In the same record you can see what initiated it.
