NTBackup
This will take you back a bit, we have a client that need to recover data from a tape where the catolog no longer exists on the server. We have tried to re-catalog the tape but we cannot recall how this is done.
We have deleted all the existing catalogs but still unable to read the data from the tape.
There are a number of articals like this one http://www.ntbackupexe.net/repair-missing-backup-catalog.html but this does not allow us to selet the tape drive as you would say using backupexec.
Can any recall how this can be done. Many thanks.

Yes it was. The point here is HoW do you select the drive to catalog the ntbackup tape in it.we have the catalog for the current year but thus is a 2008 tape.

Ok, as there was over 100+ catalogs we did not see a new on appear. All sorted now. Thanks all.

Was the backup took by NTBACKUp utility..?
If yes, you can able to catalogue the tape using the ntbackup utility.
If the backup taken by backup exec software or any other third party software, then it cannot be catlogued by NTBackup tool..
