I like Notepad++, its really simple and lightweight, yet acts like a more robust editor as it will highlight keywords in your code.

Notepad? Are you guys serious??  What if you have a 2,000 line page and need to troubleshoot code errors?  Coding without line numbers is like driving in NYC.

For free or close to free editors my top choice would be CuteHTML from GlobalScape (the same guys that make CuteFTP), although not sure if they're even selling it anymore (check here: http://www.globalscape.com/support/htm.aspx)

Second choice would be CoffeeCup (http://www.coffeecup.com/free-editor/)

Unlike notepad you will have line numbers, color coded text to easily identify tags, and tons of other relevant features.

@worthy - maybe you ought to read the post a bit more (or just read it) before you dismiss it, no one said anything about notepad, but actually a program called notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/). it supports numerous programming languages, color codes keywords, and yes, it even has line numbers.

dont be quick to diss someones post if you're not going to take the time to read it fully
