I just did this.  You will need to have a Server 2008 R2 box which is 64bit OS.  Software Req. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(SQL.105).aspx
When you install Sharepoint install the Farm not standalone, standalone would only be for a temp. test enviroment.  You will need to install Web Services IIS for Sharepoint. Sharepoint will have a pre req. install you can run to make sure everything is installed before you can install sharepoint.
SQL features install Database engine services, reporting services, management tools - basic, Analysis services.  Also when you run the setup for SQL it will run a pre req. auto check to make sure everything is installed before it completes the install.
Make sure to create the accounts for sharepoint in AD  ( sp_admin, sp_farm, sp_sqladmin, sp_serviceapps )

Your installing SQL 2008 R2?
When you run the setup you click on installation ( New installation or add features to an existing installation )
