IE8 - Cannot access websites unless they are secure (https)
I have a computer that had lots of viruses on it. I removed the viruses with Kaspersky but now Internet Explorer is unable to access websites unless they are secure.
The computer originally had IE7 on it so I removed IE7 and installed IE8. This did not change the problem. I'm guessing there is a setting I'm missing somewhere. Any ideas??

Adjusting the slider on the security tab did not give me a different result. Also, I didn't mention that I removed Kaspersky from the system and that did not resolve the problem.
If I can avoid reinstalling the OS, that would be great! That would be the last resort. Everything else seems to be working fine. I just can't access webpages that are not secure.
Any other ideas? THANK YOU!

I had not tried resetting the brower - was afraid to try that because I wasn't sure what I would lose in the process. But, when I was looking at possibly reinstalling the OS, it was better to try resetting the browser!
And, happily, you hit the nail on the head! All fixed!!
THANK YOU!

Drop the slider to the bottom and see if that helps.
Also if there were "lots" of viruses, I'd recommend wiping and reinstalling the OS. The AV software is not 100% foolproof
