Upgrade to newer OS - apps are gone now?

My wife knows I post on EE and she asked me to post this question for her.

Her iPhone 3GS apparently has an available OS update.

Can anyone confirm that a recent update is out there?

Where to go get it (official download source).

She says Outlook has not worked for a week after downloading the upgrade.

Let me know if you need more details.  She says it was an iTunes OS update.

Yes the update is IOS5, and as it only came out yesterday, it can't be that. Also itunes has updated to 10.5 at the same time.

You would (officially) download them using itunes 10.5 and plug the phone in, and it would direct you to update your phone.

Its possible that an itunes update (but not the recent one) has done it. Try removing the itunes outlook plugin/addin within Office or disabling it.

Outlook should now start.

You can start outlook in safe mode by typing in outlook /safe in the command prompt and this should get you in to disable the add in.
