Hi, the errors mean this:

0271: Date and time error Neither the date nor the time is set in the computer. Set the date and time,
using the IBM BIOS Setup Utility.

0176: System Security - This message is displayed if you remove the Security Chip and reinstall it,
The System has been or install a new one. To clear the error, enter the IBM BIOS Setup Utility. If
tampered with. this does not solve the problem, have the computer serviced.

The 0176 is the most serious of the 2 error codes. When did your laptop start doing this? Did it work before?

yes it did work, but i don't remenber when this started, maybe almost a year
Cause could be as simple as a dead CMOS (BIOS) battery.

So this started almost a year ago and you didn't user your R40 for almost a year? First thing I'd do is replace the battery, not the main battery but the 3V CMOS battery that is internal and connected to your mother board.
