CentOS Linux

Is there a free software that I can use to make full backups in a CentOS 5.5 Linux enviroment?

You could be begin with using tar if you wish to backup Linux system, or you could look at something large scale such as

-amanda - AMANDA, the Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver, is a backup system (open source software) that allows the administrator to set up a single master backup server to back up multiple hosts over network to tape drives/changers or disks or optical media. Read fora sample implementation guide http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/18050.html

If you intend to Backup Windows Machines with Linux as central server you could explore

- backuppc - BackupPC acts as a server and is installed on a Linux system, and from there it can connect to all Linux and Windows systems in your local network to back them up and restore them without interfering with the user's work on that system. A How to for same is available at http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_backuppc

Further list of Backup Softwares for Linux is available at http://linux.about.com/od/softbackup/Linux_Software_Backup_Solutions.htm

Hope this helps!
