Need help brainstorming fun ideas for Java Github projects

I'm a beginner/intermediate Java developer who wants to learn more by reaching out to the Github community. I was thinking that a perfect way would be by starting a project on Github and possibly having higher level programmers add to it if they're interested.

What are some project ideas that would be realistic and fun for a a fairly new programmer like me to chew on?

Try and make some libraries, using Java Swing, that use google maps features, which can be easily incorporated into any enterprise application.
