Excellent, thanks! I am assuming the regular Appointment and Recurring Appointment activity types will sync with Outlook calendars? Also, is it possible to have sync function the opposite direction, so that appointments on CRM user's Outlook calendars appear on their calendars in CRM? Or if nothing else, appear as blocked out time?

You might want to understand a key scenario here. If you are creating an appointment it will sync to your calendar and if you are creating a service activity unless and until you are defined as one of the resource involved, it won't sync to your calendar. Yes, both regular and recurring appointment will sync to Outlool calendar. Appointments you create will appear in CRM as appointments and service activities will appear in service calendar.
