I have visual web developer 2008 installed locally on my pc and I want to access my web site remotely...

I go to FILE>OPEN WEB SITE>REMOTE SITE

Remote Site
For the web site location, enter the URL of a Web Site configured with FrontPage Server Extentions

i enter my url: http://xx.xx.xx.xx

then it comes back and say that I need to enable Frontpage server extentions on the server....where do I go to add this?

You can download and install the extensions from the following pages: http://www.iis.net/community/default.aspx?tabid=34&g=6&i=1630 for IIS 7.0 or http://www.iis.net/community/default.aspx?tabid=34&g=6&i=2035 for IIS 7.5

It would depend on your hosting company. In control panels, usually there is an option to turn frontpage extensions on/off

What do you have in return?
What do you have in <path and name of the destination file on the user machine>?
