External Dvd-rom not working on Samsung syncmaster nc190 using Vmware View

We are testing a Samsung syncmaster nc190 connected to Vmware view. The image is windows 7 pro with just office 2007 on it. It has no group policy settings turned on. The problem we are having is when we try to connect a external dvd-rom the d drive dissapears and we are unable to browse the dvd or cd. There appears to be no errors in the error logs. I also noticed in the device manager under disk management it flashes on and off. We have tried many differnet brands of external dvd-roms with no luck. Has anyone working with Vmware View  seen this before?
Thanks

We aren't remoting the computer just directly connected with keyboard and mouse.

So this is nothing to do with VMware View VDI desktop not seeing the dvd drive?

Correct but this Samsung device is pulling the image off vmware view. Maybe that part doesn't matter.

Okay, so this is using VMware View Client in the Thnin Client, connected to VMware View Workstation, with USB Redirection.

1. Do other USB devices work? e.g. flash drives?

2. Have you checked this device using a PC with the VMware View client installed?

3. Updated firmware in Samsung Thin Client?

I have seen issues with USB devices not compatible with the thin client device. Check a PC with the VMware View client.
