I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi!

Do you wish to remove the whole row(if text found in row(or cell of a row)) or emptied the cell(if found in the cell) ?

Also are you using bound datagridview ?

it's a bound datagridview, and the whole row would be deleted. Bound by the datagridview receives it's data from a database.

Try

reportData.DefaultView.RowFilter = "Description='" & txtDescription.Text & "'"
if reportData.DefaultView.Count = 1 Then
   reportData.DefaultView.Item(0).Delete()
End If
