temperature inside laptop from a stand alone app

is there a tool that can be run without installing that will tell the temperature of cpu etc, just to make sure that fan is working good and temperature is all ok..

What processors are you running in your systems?  That application is only for Intel Core processors.

This one http://openhardwaremonitor.org/downloads/ might also do the job but requires Administrator rights to run.

Pentium M 745 Dothan

The two apps I've suggested monitor core temperatures.  However the Dothan doesn't supply information from the core.  See http://forum.rightmark.org/topic.cgi?id=6:1662 and the comment from the expert pepo.

MobileMeter http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/MobileMeter.shtml might be able to read the temperatures but I don't know if it has to be installed or not.
