When I upload a folder in the SharePoint (eg 1GB Size with 1000 files)
Where will these files are actually stored. I have been asked by IT department to let them know so that they can allocate appropriate space.

Eg Do the files store in the same drive in some XXX\Drive or do they go to SQL SB etc

Thanks for your help

The files are stored in the Database.

For example a binary like a Word document, gif file, etc. are stored as a BLOB (Binary Large Object) in SQL.

    Thanks Kyder
Is there a way to find out the impact of the size a particular folder might have eg
Can I go and look for SQDB and query the size of that BLOB?

Or can I do the before and after size of a particular folder or table etc

SharePoint 2010 SP1 has a storage page on every site that shows this.
